The Earth harp places the audience inside the instrument as the strings span in the landscape.

In 2000 William Close created the first Earth Harp. The strings of the giant instrument spanned 300 meters across a valley, turning the landscape into a giant harp. Since then William has installed and performed on the Earth Harp through out the world, from the Kennedy Center , to a temple in Vietnam to the Coliseum in Rome. The giant strings travel out from the stage over the audience and attache to the architecture or land scape. Its sounds are orchestral and beautifully rich in harmonics. Some have described the sounds as healing and emotional.
